Wasted
Alona Rodeh
In gaming culture, "wasted" typically refers to a player character's death or defeat. In this game, it’s all too easy to get lost in the ocean or be taken down by another player, embodying the chaotic essence behind the name. Simple and intuitive enough for non-gamers to grasp, "Wasted" is set on a desolate, square quay seemingly adrift in the middle of the ocean. Roaming around the plot, a surreal group of ATMs act like bumper cars in an arena. As a player, your goal is to ram into other ATMs before they can hit you, earning cash with each knockdown. Eventually—you are most likely to either trip and fall into the ocean, be knocked out by another ATM, busted by the police.
Where Do Ideas Come From?
Joysi Olijhoek
When imagination and understanding can freely harmonize, it could happen, on purpose or by accident: an idea forms. In this short film found footage, sounds, and words, all retrieved from archives, are brought together to playfully explore the relatedness between these seemingly random finds.
