Battling to keep the lights on In an alternat time of extreme energy poverty, a strict credit system is enforced. Oscar and his husband Alex just about hold it together on Oscar’s wages from his shift work but Alex’s dialysis treatment is a regular concern. With an abrupt cut back on the local transport service, they struggle the distance to the hospital only to be told that they have zero energy credit. The only way for Alex to receive his treatment is for an already exhausted Oscar to join the human generators. Summoning up everything he has, Oscar powers the machine to keep Alex connected, but as his own energy fades, so does the possibility of a future together. A story of humanity and love set against a future we can change.

Georgie Cowan-Turner:
Georgie is a multi-award winning writer and director with an MA in Film from Queen’s University, Belfast (2020). She was selected as a BAFTA Connect member “in recognition of her contribution to the film industry and her promising career ahead”. Her films have screened at BAFTA/BIFA qualifying film festivals are championed by major collectives and her most recent short commissioned by BBC and NI Screen. South London Film Festival described her films as ‘ the breath of a fresh and bold new voice’.
