Xiao Xiao is a girl who lives in her own world, isolated and bullied by her classmates at school for a gnawing secret. Even her own mother sees her as a troublemaker. Her father, who works abroad for a long time, is like a familiar yet distant stranger. Only her school teacher, Paul, seems to understand and alleviate her emotions. One day, during a typhoon, Xiao Xiao witnesses a secret between her mother and Paul. Confused, she not only has to force herself to adapt to this complicated emotional relationship, but also gradually discovers that both she and her mother have their own helplessness towards life.

Chia-Hua Chin:
As a director and screenwriter, Chin’s shorts Lucky Draw (2019) and A Cold Summer Day (2019) have received numerous awards, including the Golden Bell Awards, Golden Harvest Awards, Kaohsiung Film Festival and New York Festivals - TV & Film Awards (Gold Award for Short Films). They have also been selected for the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, and Singapore Chinese Film Festival. His screenplays won multiple Excellent Screenplay Awards in Taiwan. Trouble Girl is his first feature film.
