Leonie Schöler, born in 1993, is a historian, journalist, and presenter who conveys historical knowledge in innovative and accessible ways, with a strong commitment to highlighting the role of women in history and beyond.
In spring 2024, her first non-fiction book, Beklaute Frauen, was published by Penguin. This work sheds light on the unfortunate truth of how women have shaped history, only for men to take the credit. She uncovers the overlooked history of women whose achievements and rights were stolen over time. The book has been celebrated as a significant contribution to gender equality and historical awareness, and it instantly became a Spiegel bestseller.
On her popular TikTok and Instagram channels (@heeyleonie), she captivates over 230,000 followers with fascinating insights into historical events and current political affairs. Her unique approach of presenting complex topics in an engaging and informative manner has made her a prominent voice in the digital education landscape.
As a producer and filmmaker, Leonie has worked on various ZDF productions as well as for FUNK, including Jäger und Sammler, Y-Kollektiv, and Auf Klo. Her documentary on the Tönnies system, produced for ZDFinfo in summer 2021, and the eight-part web video series on the Wannsee Conference, released in January 2022 for ZDF, showcase her ability to present deep historical topics in a captivating way.
