Betânia, the 65-year-old family stalwart matriarch, finds herself on a turbulent journey through the ever-changing sands of time. After the death of her husband, Betânia is forced to return to the village where she was born, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and an agrarian lifestyle, simple and without electricity, on the edge of a newly born Brazilian desert not far from the Amazon. Driven by the ancestral sound of Maranhão, Betânia and her family struggle to maintain balance and a sense of identity as tradition and modernity collide.
