In the 6th round of the RhineMain Short Film Award, we are looking for short films from the last three years from Central and Eastern Europe that focus on (OR were made by) older women: Ladies, grannies, babushki, transwomen, witches, senior citizens and the like. The older woman is underrepresented on screen as well as behind the camera – let’s try and change that!
goEast welcomes submissions of short films (up to 20 minutes) from Central and Eastern Europe, in all categories: Short fiction, documentary, animation, etc.
A regional jury consisting of professional cinephiles from the Rhine-Main region will decide on the winning film, which will receive a prize of 2,500 euros. After the festival, the short film program goes on tour through the region, visiting independent cinemas on its way.

We invite young filmmakers and professionals with a documentary film project to apply for the EAST-WEST TALENT LAB of the 25th goEast Film Festival.
The EAST–WEST TALENT LAB is an innovative young professionals’ program at goEast. Focusing on the transfer of knowledge, creativity and project ideas, the program intends to forge links between young filmmakers, media artists and film and media students from Germany (with an emphasis on the Rhine-Main region) and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. For the fourth time in a row the lab will be focusing on non-fiction formats: short, mid and feature length documentary films, animadoc and experimental formats are all welcome.
