A portrait of the oppressive daily life of a small town in Mexico that lives on intrigues and secrets. The orphan Matea assists the priest in his parish. The town doctor tries to seduce her but fails and proceeds to defame her, making her believe that she is having relations with the priest. The village believes him and demands the priest to fire her; he refuses and locks himself up with Matea. During the confinement they live a passionate love, although fatality arrives and the priest dies before the indifference of the doctor and the people. Matea becomes a kind of priestess known as the black widow.

The story of a man who, in order to save his family from the corrupt world, keeps them locked up for years until he brings them to an extreme situation. Gabriel, the father of the family, is an educated being who is governed almost to madness by the ideas contained in books; his children Utopia, Future and Will are destined to be as he chooses, but the maddening confinement and the impossibility of keeping his family completely safe from the outside world undermine the foundations of the castle of purity that Gabriel intends to maintain at all costs.

Dalia (42), discovers that her husband has vanished without a trace. As her life and her job as a subway driver begin to collapse; the violent indifference of her environment engulfs her in a dark tunnel that seems to lead nowhere.

The film deals with the intense and twisted love story between Coral Fabre and Nicolas Estrella. She is a lonely woman who urgently needs to satisfy her affective and sexual needs; she is also deeply insecure and with a complex about her fatness, she sees in Nicolas a dream come true. Together they begin a story that will lead them down paths of ambition, jealousy and crime.
