Newly restored in 4K to coincide with its 40th anniversary, the 1984 film was directed by renowned filmmaker Jonathan Demme and is considered by critics as the greatest concert film of all time. Stop Making Sense stars core band members David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison along with Bernie Worrell, Alex Weir, Steve Scales, Lynn Mabry and Edna Holt. The live performance was shot over the course of three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December of 1983 and features Talking Heads’ most memorable songs.
Director's bio:
Robert Jonathan Demme; American filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter. Demme rose to fame in the 1980s with his comedy films Melvin and Howard, Swing Shift, Talking Heads Stop Making Sense for which he won the Best Documentary Award from the National Society of Film Critics, Something Wild, and Married to the Mob. He became known for directing The Silence of the Lambs, for which he won the Oscar for Best Director. Later, he directed acclaimed films such as Philadelphia (1993) and Rachel Getting Married. Demme
formed his production company, Clinica Estetico, with producers Edward Saxon and Peter Saraf. In his later years, he took on a documentary about a concert with Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids, and his final project was a rock & roll story for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame compiled from images of the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies that debuted in the summer of 2017.
