In Northeast China, Shenyang is a city in decay. Xu Lingling longs for love and family, yet the 25-year-old has contracted uremia and her life is crumbling. A young boy lives together with his father on a tiny island in the middle of the sea. They are a part of a small coastal community that has been inhabiting this island for centuries. The story takes place on Crab Day, the town’s most important holiday. It’s a ritual that marks a transition from boyhood into manhood, in which every boy must kill a crab they caught together with their fathers in order to become rightful members of the adult community and leave their childhood behind. Everything changes when one boy goes against the rules and instead of killing his crab he keeps it safe and befriends it - a decision which will ultimately lead him to leave the community forever and become a man on his own terms.

Sure it's strange but it is their way of escaping realities of life and it works for them. As the anniversary of his mother’s death approaches, Firhan's dreams of the forest become more intense. He convinces the gang to follow him back to the forest, despite it being listed as one of the most haunted places in South East Asia! In the forest, things begin to unravel as the haunted forest dredges up their worst fears. The only way to their survival is for them to overcome these deep dark fears. Will they survive?
