In Singapore, politics is often described as a dance: one step forward and two steps back; a city where socio-economic change moves with incremental cautiousness. However, in this animated film, the quiet city-state transforms into a rowdy street parade synthesised by a manic flurry of pop culture, karaoke and colour. The Parade uses the classic 80s film, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off as a site of departure to talk about the politics of togetherness, public space in Singapore. In the film, Ferris is a kid who wants to seize the day, a mischievous trickster who always ‘gets away with it”. I wanted to imagine what that could mean in Singapore, a country in a constant state of surveillance and public space often does not feel like it belongs to its citizens.

After Thod was acquitted, he returned to work in a pizza shop with his brother Singh. Sergeant Chai, a police officer nearing retirement, lost a bet at a casino owned by Simon, a Pattaya's mafia. Simon forces Sergeant Chai to help him transport gold from Bangkok to Pattaya to pay his debt. Hok, a former Simon's underling, decides to cooperate with Gee, a fortune-teller, to steal Simon's gold from Sergeant Chai. They go to Thod, a former assassin who was acquitted and returned to work in a pizza shop with his older brother Singh. One day, Thod found out that Singh was shot and died. Hok told Thod that he needed to cooperate in the robbery plan, and then he would tell the story of how Singh died. So the robbery plan started. They succeeded and shared the gold. But the story hasn't ended yet. When Simon needed revenge. And Thod still needed to find out why his older brother died.

Logline /Synopsis English: The film takes place in Tokyo during the Olympics amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Tired of rushing through life, young people gather at a small guesthouse in Tokyo, where they explore their own paths and grow through new relationships and experiences. The youthful ensemble drama is centered around the theme of a "break" and depicts the modest growth of young people.

Southern Thai town. On a once-sandy beach eroded by high tides and now replaced by artificial rock sea walls, two young women meet. Shati is a local Muslim woman from a conservative family. Fon is an activist-turned-visual artist, in town for the her new art exhibition. The deeper they get to know each other, the bigger Shati’s internal conflict with her traditional roots - that forbids same-sex relationship - becomes. Caught between fear and desire, she is reminded of the old cautionary tales from her childhood told by her late and beloved grandmother. During Shati’s pivotal moment, on Fon’s last night in town, the strange otherworldly occurrences in the tales of Shati’s grandmother gradually start to happen. A storm is brewing. Whether it’s all a dream or not, Shati is making a decision to forge a path for herself, and comes to terms with who she is.

It's the 1980s in Saigon. Linh Phung is the star of a traveling Cai-luong (traditional folk opera) troupe deep in debt to a local loan shark. Dung "Thunderbolt" is the enforcer coming to collect.
