Filmmaker Biography:




Joanna Rusinek was born on 06th July 1978 in Kraków. Between 1997 and 2000 she was a student of Teacher Training College at the Jagiellonian University. In 2001 she began her studies at the Graphics Faculty in the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. She took part in the Sokrates - Erasmus student programme spending four months at the École Estienne in Paris.

In 2006 she completed her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, graduating from the Animated Film studio of professor Jerzy Kucia. Her diploma was an animation entitled “Coincidence”.

This student film received a Jury award on Ofafa Festival in Kraków in 2006 and a special mention at the Animateka International Animation Film Festival in Lublana in 2007.

In 2011 she was one of the directors of the short documentary “The Emperor’s Toys”. This partly animated film was made thanks to the “First Document” programme.
