Synopsis

"Kawauso" refers to the Japanese river otter. One day, the girl meets an otter, but because otters are extinct, she is unable to communicate with it.

Filmmaker Biography:



In the 1990s, I worked on many video installations and interactive works.

I started making short films in 2005. In 2010, "Song of the Red Forest" was invited to be screened at the Berlin International Film Festival.

In 2012, "Li.Li.Ta.Al" was nominated for the Berlin International Film Festival and the Annecy International Film Festival. In 2016, "Vita Lakamaya" was nominated for the Berlin International Film Festival for the second time.

In 2023, "kawauso" won the Sapporo International Short Film Festival. This will be the third time that the film has been nominated for the Berlin International Film Festival in 2024.
