Synopsis

The girl draws a circle on the ground. Passersby step into it, one by one. Soon the circle is full of people, struggling to stay within. Once the girl returns and erase the circle, people start heading their way.

Filmmaker Biography:



JOUNG Yumi has been creating animation and picture books ever since with her delicate and distinctive pencil drawing technique.

In 2009, her work Dust Kid was invited at Cannes’ Directors Fortnight.

In 2013, Love Games made its world premiere at Berlinale Shorts and won the Grand Prix at Animafest Zagreb.

Her latest work, Circle, was invited at Berlinale Shorts in 2024, followed by Love Games, House of Existence, and Math Test, making its fourth appearance. In 2023, The Waves premiered at Locarno Film Festival.
In 2014, Dust Kid was published as a picture book and won the Bologna Ragazzi Award.

The following year, her work My Little Doll’s House consecutively won the Bologna Ragazzi Award.
