The Palestinian farmer Emad buys his first camera in 2005, when his fourth son is born. The family lives in the village of Bil'in, where Israeli settlements occupy larger and larger parts of the land over the years. The camera captures the son's upbringing, surrounded by bulldozers, soldiers and ever-higher walls.

«5 Broken Cameras» is a deeply personal film about citizens who withhold non-violent ideals in the fight against an oppressive regime. Through Emad's camera lens, we follow the family and the village's demonstrations over five dramatic years.

About the director:
Emad Burnat is a Palestinian farmer and filmmaker. He made his directorial debut with «5 Broken Cameras», and he became the first Palestinian nominated for best documentary by the Oscars.

Guy Davidi is an Israeli documentary filmmaker. In 2005, he began directing films that focused on everyday life in occupied Palestine. The films «In Working Progress» (2006), «A Gift from Heaven» (2008), «Women Defying Barriers» (2009) and «Interrupted Streams» (2010) are all about people affected by the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Together they won the award for best director for «5 Broken Cameras» at the Sundance Film Festival in 2012.
