Israelism

Canceled school screenings and threats of cuts in funding. This documentary about Jews critical of Israel challenges freedom of speech in the US.
Screenings
Simone and Eitan are both Jewish. They attended Jewish schools, were active in student organizations and Eitan himself served in the Israeli military. But over the years it dawned on them that the stories they were told as children did not match what they saw in reality.
Today, young American Jews face a generational divide. «Israelism» explores different perspectives of modern Jewish identity, and we observe how the glossy image of Israel begins to crack.
About the director:
The director duo Erin Axelman and Sam Eilertsen are two American Jews with similar experiences as Simone and Eitan. Together they run the production company Tikkun Olam, a non-profit film collective that focuses on justice movements. Both have their directorial debut with «Israelism».
