The exhibition "A New Kind of Wilderness" takes you into a natural and real world through photographer Maria Gros Vatne's captivating photographs of her family in what was her major life project: living a free and independent family life in harmony with nature.

Unfortunately, Maria passed away after a short illness and left a big void. She also left behind this wonderful photographic narrative of the beauty in the close and simple which can continue to inspire us.

Maria wanted to create an exhibition before she passed away and it is with great joy and humility that we have put together this exhibition in connection with the documentary film "A New Kind of Wilderness", which is about her family after her death. The film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival this year.

The exhibition and the film of the same name will open and premiere during the HUMAN film festival in Oslo on 10th March and will hang in Cinemateket's premises a month after this.

The exhibition is a production of A5 FILM, supported by Fritt Ord.
