Imagining Liberation

1 h 0 min

Filmvisning og workshop om å forestille seg frigjøring og rettferdighet – spesielt i Palestina.

Vega Teaterscenen

søndag 10.3.

Filmvisning og kreativ workshop. Arrangementet er på engelsk.

Film director Dalia AlKury will run a screening of her experiments of imagining a free and liberated Palestine, as part of her PhD research at the Norwegian Film School.

The screening will be followed by a workshop with a collective meditation for the audience to dream and imagine their own version of liberation and justice.

Dalia´s character driven practice pendulums between staging memories and simulating past experiences , to staging dreams and hopeful speculation of our collective futures. Both approaches from staging in documentary to speculating through fiction – are deeply rooted in pausing the question “what if” to offer another possible narrative.

Dalia uses filmmaking not as a way to document reality, but as a way of commanding it, through active and radical imagining of justice and liberation.

Dalia Al-Kury is an acclaimed film director whose work navigates cross-genre storytelling. Her films explore the resilience and political unconscious of the everyday hero in the Arab World. In addition to her rich practical experience, Dalia is well-grounded in academic study; she holds an MA from Goldsmiths, University of London, and is currently a PhD candidate at the Norwegian Film School.

This event is a part of Motforestillingers I LOVE GAZA-programme during HUMAN IDFF. In cooperation with Vega Scene.

The ticket revenue from all of Motforestillingers events on Sunday Merch 10th goes entirely to NORWAC's work in Gaza.
